Our Identity

Our Name
EduDelta is an interesting interplay of two words, namely “Edu” and “Delta”. “Edu” stand for education, which is the core focus of the community project. “Delta” is a Greek symbol that is used to denote change. It is also a landform that is created at the mouth of a river where that river flows into an ocean, sea, or another river. Collectively, it represents the desire to inspire a positive change in students through our education programmes.

Our Motto

Inspiring Grains, Anchoring Change.

Our guiding motto is derived from our role as the catalyst of change (represented by the Greek symbol) as well as the imagery of a river delta, which slowly accumulate deposits of river sediments to strongly anchor itself at the mouth of a river in hope of forming an island.

EduDelta Logo

The basic concept of the logo is based on the name of the project, EduDelta. The lowercase Delta, in red, represents a positive change in our students. Our motto is also located on the right side of the logo. The colours red and orange are used to represent encouragement, success, and passion.

Our Core Team
Here are some excerpts from our Teams’ profiles:

Kwang Guan

I’m a person who strives to live my life to the fullest. I do so by trying out new activities, making friends and taking steps to achieve my dreams. And coming from a low-income family, I understand the difficulties experienced by students who were in a similar situation. Education is not a level-playing field for all and I want to do my part to help those students.

Marcus

I love Japanese.
I try my best to enjoy whatever I’m doing and I believe life is meaningless without passion, hence the decision to teach Japanese in the future.
As a sidenote, I believe that learning is most effective with the student’s interest is piqued.
Education = Empowerment (especially for those trying to break out of poverty cycle)
I want to see for myself how a group of teenagers and young adults can help to empower the needy through education. Personally I just want to see how I can contribute back to the community with what I know or can do.

Cara

I’m Cara and I like to read and write, but sadly not about myself. I want to be able to work behind the scenes, contribute to the starting process of EduDelta.

Jia Hao

I’m a NSF that basically leads a life just like anyone else. I like music, both English and Chinese, books ranging from chic-lit to mystery/thriller and movie-watching-sleeping-computer games-eating-hanging-out-with-friends-etc. In short, I’m just your average guy. All along, I have developed a passion to serve the community and help the needy from my OCIP trips and service-learning projects in school. thus, presented with this opportunity to be part of a team that aims to change the lives of children from low-income families, I must say it is an opportunity that I cannot just let it pass by.

Jie Yee

I like to play the piano because it is a special way of expressing myself and I think that sometimes it is not words or actions that can really show your thoughts and feelings. It is music.
I want to do something meaningful with my friends who are people whom I like and love. Joining EduDelta can teach me how to love strangers and care about strangers.

Kevin

I read a lot and write a lot. I celebrate life.
I’m in EduDelta because want to put my ideas about management and leadership into practice all while helping others.

Clarence

I am a happy and cheerful person. I (used to) study in Hwa Chong and is currently in army; also trying to stay happy and I like working with people. Yay!
I want to be with EduDelta because I want to use my free time to do something useful and beneficial to the society.

Alvina

I’m a person who loves sleeping. Less than 5 hours will see change me from a mild-tempered person into a monster. Honest. While I’m awake, pop music, anime, manga and books dominate. I’m in EduDelta because previous experience in working with children left an impression on me, how by simplying believing and giving them the chance to develop can do wonders for them.
